Non-Profit Coaching

How we help non-profit organizations:

Coaching starts with either a three or six month series, and consists of four one-hour sessions each month. May be one-on-one or group/team coaching.

Strategic Life Plans helps non-profit staff and board members develop their leaders and strengthen their ability to fulfill their missions. Leaders develop strategic plans that prioritize goals, better utilize resources, develop their own coaching skills and become more entrepreneurial in their fund-raising and program management.

Possible Goal Areas:

  • Leadership & Board development
  • Strategic planning
  • Fund-raising & Event planning
  • Coaching for performance skills
  • Organizational issues
  • Program development
  • Time management
  • Succession planning
  • Work/Life Balance

"I have been working with Chris on three major focus areas:

  • organizational skills
  • strategic plan preparations
  • and supervisory skills

She has provided me with excellent guidance. Chris has a firm and kind manner that keeps me on task and helps me get a new perspective on old problems.

In addition, she draws from a wealth of experience that includes event planning and—most importantly—running a nonprofit organization herself.

I know that the workings of a non profit are not a theoretical construct that she has studied but a real experience that she herself has lived.  Her insight, as a result, has been extremely helpful.

Thanks for suggesting that I do this in the first place.  I would probably not have done it without some prompting and I would have missed an important training/growth experience."

—Carla Weil, Executive Director
The Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund

The mission of most non-profit organizations is to improve humanity in some way. Either by helping to alleviate some kind of suffering or illness, uplifting people in need of resources such as food, shelter or clothing, or improving or protecting our natural habitats and resources.

When it really comes down to it though, the way to achieving any of this is through our ability to plan and execute our goals and through our relationships with others.

That means when we create a solid plan and start to take the steps to implement it we strengthen the organization. And when we improve our relationships and our ability to communicate within these relationships, we also strengthen the organization to fulfill its mission.

Christine has helped many non-profit organizations to raise thousands of dollars through grant-writing, large galas and other fund-raising events as a volunteer, through her work as an event planner and as the executive director of a non-profit organization.

She has developed a nationally recognized model training program for homeowners along with a “How to" Manual for affiliates nationwide to replicate. And has written orientation manuals and other training materials for volunteers and board members.

Presently, she is an active board member of Chrysalis Center, a non-profit organization that offers support to people in need of housing, employment, mental health and a variety of other issues. She serves on the fund-raising committee and also on the Capital Campaign Committee helping to raise millions of dollars for a new building that Chrysalis Center will soon call home.

Her past experience in running a non-profit, as well as presently being a board member, and a volunteer helps her understand the issues from a wide perspective. She knows the challenges of managing a non-profit organization and also the issues that busy professionals face when they commit their time, energy and resources on non-profit boards and committees as well.

Christine’s work with non-profit leaders supports them in creating healthy environments where each person is a valued member capable of contributing their unique skills and talents. She understands burnout and how to prevent it by working with non-profit leaders to develop work-life balance and other healthy practices.
